We, like all other clubs and activities, will have a slate of officers. If you would like to run for an office, please let me know. Please think very carefully about running for an office. This requires additional work and a lot of responsibility. It is also a reflection on you about responsibility, trust, honesty, character, integrity, heart, and your ability to handle the work. Busy people get things done! I want you to think you can handle being an officer. But you have to want to do this.
This IS NOT a popularity contest! When you vote, vote who you believe will be a good leader in each office. Your vote will be confidential. Vote your conscious. I do not want any dissension or arguments! Negativity will not be tolerated!
Here is a list of the officers and their responsibilities:
President - This person is the face of the committee. This is the person Mr. Briggs will work most closely with as the committee moves along and the planning continues for the prom. This person must possess effective leadership skills and be able to rally the committee. This person must be reliable, dependable, effective, and include everyone on what is going on. This person will have the most responsibility, including running committee meetings, signing off on all forms (all officers are allowed to do this) and represents the committee for all business matters, including any and all matters that may need discussed with Mr. Frioni. The president is the leader of the committee.
Vice-President - This person will be second in command and will fill in during any absence of the president. This person will run meetings in the president's absence. This person should work closely with the president and, like the president, should have knowledge of everything going on with the other officers and will fill in as needed.
Secretary - This person should be taking down notes and items from every meeting and posting them online with the assistance of Mr. Briggs. This individual should be working with the president to keep the committee on track as to what we have discussed and what we need to discuss and record all activity. The president should be calling on the secretary during meetings for any information necessary.
Treasurer - This person should be good with numbers and money. This position is self-explanatory and also very important. Mr. Briggs will provide the treasurer with all necessary monetary information so the committee will know how much money we have on hand, what we need, and what each item will cost as we move along. The treasurer should have a report for each meeting.
*Two items of note - all officers need to be able to work together without exception. Do not run for an office JUST to be an officer. I need officers who are ready, willing, and able to do the work. NO EXCEPTIONS!! I do not dissuade anyone from running for an office, but I need all offices present at meetings, except if they are absent from school.
*Anyone is allowed to run for an office, but please keep in mind what was stated at the top of this page. Think very carefully about running for an office and the office you are interested in. Second, if two people like working together and would like to run "as a ticket," much like a national election, they may do so! For example, two people can run as president/vice-president and can campaign together if they wish. This is a lesson in politics. However, each individual running for an office is elected separately. You need to decide whom you want leading the committee.
Finally, if you are not an officer, YOU ARE NO LESS IMPORTANT! Everyone has a say on the committee and is entitled to voice their opinions. Officers are for structure. If you have any questions at all, please see Mr. Briggs.
